in addition, if they don't show up in character creator still, drag them from desktop into the game

Yeah...It doesn't work like that. The game does check for gender, at least in my experience it does.

If you have the "Drag And Drop" plugin, just drag the card file into the opposite gender's character creator. The game will recreate the card as best as it can as that gender.
